Hello, world! My name is Nguyen Thi Quyen, and today, I embark on a new adventure—not through the misty mountains of Ha Giang, where I was born and raised, but through the boundless landscape of words. As a blogger, I aim to take you on journeys filled with inspiration, connection, and the thrill of stepping beyond your comfort zone.
Let me start by sharing my story, a tale of resilience and growth, forged amidst the rugged beauty of northern Vietnam. My life has been anything but ordinary—shaped by struggles that might seem like trials, yet they became the fire that tempered my spirit.
Growing Up in the Shadows of Mountains
Nguyen Thi Quyen was born on February 21, 2005, in a small village in Phu Linh, Ha Giang. It’s a place where the towering mountains seem to cradle the clouds, and life, while breathtakingly beautiful, can also be brutally hard. My family, like many others in the region, faced financial hardships. Survival was a daily battle, and childhood for me was more about responsibility than play.

While other children laughed and played, my world revolved around chores that seemed larger than my tiny hands could handle. My first job? Taking care of pigs. Every day began before sunrise, as I would wake up to bathe them, feed them, and clean their pens. It wasn’t glamorous, and it wasn’t easy. Sometimes, I felt like I was drowning in the weight of it all, like a tiny boat caught in a relentless storm.

But even then, something inside me whispered: This isn’t the end of your story.
The First Step Out
One day, overwhelmed by exhaustion and the yearning for something more, I made a bold decision to leave. With hope as my compass, I ventured beyond the familiarity of my village. I thought I had escaped the hardships of my past, but life, as it turns out, had more lessons in store for me.
My first job in the “new world” was herding goats—a task I quickly realized was far from a dream come true. The mountainous terrain was unforgiving, with dense forests and steep cliffs that made each day a test of survival. And then it happened: I lost an entire herd.

Nguyen Thi Quyen still remember standing there, heart pounding, surrounded by the endless green of the jungle, with a deep river roaring below. It felt as though the mountains themselves were mocking me. The financial loss I faced was crushing, and for a moment, Nguyen Thi Quyen wondered if I was doomed to fail at everything I tried.

So, I ran away again—this time, not from work, but from the weight of my own shame.
Returning Home, and to Myself
Eventually, the pull of home became too strong to resist. But when I returned to my village, the curious glances and probing questions from neighbors felt like arrows to my pride. One neighbor asked cheerfully, “You must have earned a lot of money in the city, right?” I could only manage a weak smile, feeling like a bird returning to its nest with broken wings.

The embarrassment didn’t crush me—it fueled me. I realized that life wasn’t about running away from challenges but learning how to face them head-on. With renewed determination, I returned to the city. This time, I wasn’t searching for an escape. I was searching for growth.
Why I Started This Blog
Today, as I sit here writing, I see my journey as a river winding through mountains. It wasn’t always smooth, but every twist and turn brought me closer to who I am now. I want this blog to be a place where you, too, can find inspiration for your own journey—whether it’s climbing literal mountains or navigating the ones within yourself.
I know many of you reading this are adventurers at heart. You love the thrill of stepping into the unknown, whether it’s trekking through remote landscapes or diving into new cultures. My goal is to create a space where we can connect over shared experiences, explore the beauty of nature, and celebrate the courage it takes to embrace the unfamiliar.
Lessons from My Story
If there’s one thing my life has taught me, it’s that every stumble is a step forward. Losing the herd of goats? That was a stumble. Facing the shame of returning home? Another stumble. But each one taught me something invaluable: resilience, humility, and the strength to keep moving forward.

Life isn’t always a straight road; it’s more like a winding path through the mountains. Sometimes the climb feels impossible, and the summit seems unreachable. But when you take it step by step, you realize that every small effort brings you closer to your goal.
An Invitation to Join Me
